Day Trip Palooza

Hello friends,

July is upon us and so is the promise of vacations, downtime, and summer nights for many. There is a song by a band I love called Aha that has a song entitled "Seemingly Non-Stop July". It talks about how July seems like the month of summer that will go on forever, then in a blink August has arrived and the mundanity of the academic year quickly approaches.

Being a college student makes summer lose some of its luster because it becomes the season of moneymaking. Having a hectic work schedule can make it difficult to make summertime memories and really cherish your youth. The key to enjoying your summer without ruining your work hours is DAY TRIPS. Day trips allow you to adventure, spend time with friends, save money, and enjoy your summer without having to disturb your work schedule. Below, I've listed a few ideas for people who want to make some summer memories without forsaking their future and financial livelihood.

1. H2O: Pools, ponds, lakes, and beaches all come with the potential to relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy water. I personally love going to the beach or unwinding by a pool. Something about water regenerates me and allows me to finish out my workweek a bit better.

2. Amusement Park: I'm very pro-adrenaline and love a day at the amusement park. It's relatively inexpensive when compared to going on a week long vacation yet it offers more excitement than just a day lounging poolside.

3. Dinner Parties: I highly recommend this for anyone trying to maintain a social life and pay bills. Get a group of friends together and make dinner then eat around the table. This is personally one of my favorite things to do with my friends because it is such a relaxed environment and because we all get to create something together while catching up.

4. Hike: This is not only fun but also a healthy way of exploring without putting in a lot of time off requests. Find some new trails with views and begin your adventure.

5. Art Night: Hit up a craft store and buy whatever inspires you. I typically go for canvas and paint and enjoy painting out Pinterest quote posters. Let your imagination run wild and let your inner crafter out.

6. Java Junkies: Never underestimate the importance of a good cup of joe. Getting coffee after or before a shift with friends is a delicious, easy, and inexpensive way of meeting up.

Hopefully these day trip ideas will allow you to harness your summertime and thoroughly enjoy it.
