Fresh

Facing a new year head on is an exciting time. With a new year comes new challenges and goals and I'm growing to love this time of newness. I think it's good too - to have this restart button of sorts in life. So how do you go about restarting? Here are a few suggestions.

1. A physical change
I dyed my hair on January 1st this year. If you want to try something different I suggest a new hair color or cut. I know getting back in shape is a big goal for a lot of people too. Do whatever you feel led toward. I just know that being able to see a physical change in yourself will help you really feel the newness that the season brings.

2. Redecorate
I love this one. Rearrange your bedroom, get a few new pictures for your living room, or get a new clock in the kitchen. Seeing a little something different everyday will help you to appreciate the changes you're making.

3. Wardrobe
Changing up a wardrobe is expensive and typically can't happen all at once. Sooo... rather than get a bunch of new pieces, buy a few to start your collection. This is also where I'd like to put a plug in for thrift stores. You can find such good pieces there for really cheap. Also, see if your friends would be willing to trade or share anything with you. It's an easy way of doubling your closet.

4. Mentality
This may be the most important one of all. Change truly comes from within. Whatever you're working on, I wish you luck and success.

5. Get out more
Go on more adventures and explore this world we live in! Make memories.

6. Be nicer
Working in retail has shown be how nasty people can be. Remember that every single person on this earth has a struggle you know nothing about. Live in love my friends.

7. Stop gossiping
Not only does talking about people behind their back make you look petty, but it also makes it seem like you cannot be trusted.

8. Buy new sheets
Retail had also taught me that this is the season where people buy new sheets for themselves. I don't fully understand this fad but I recommend percale or eucalyptus.

9. Meet new people
Fresh faces go a long way. There are so many people in this world; try to get to know a few more during our sweet '16.

Happy 2016 everyone and may all your hopes be actualized.
