How To Stay Warm When You Don't Want To Raise Your Bills

Anyone paying their way knows how frustrating paying bills is, particularly electricity and oil. During the cold weather months, this makes things tricky. I prefer 90 degree days over 60 degree days so this winter cold is driving me nuts. If you are like me and get cold very easily but don't want to pay for it at the end of the month, here are a few tricks for you.

1. Heating Pads
Though these use electricity, they don't use a whole lot. Another perk to these is that they hold their warmth for a little while after being unplugged.

2. Spontaneous Excercise
This is a double win because it warms you up and also burns calories. When you're getting cold, get up and do a few jumping jacks. Now this will look odd in public but it works great around the house.

3. Dry Hair
I. Hate. Wet. Hair. Not only does it get you wet and drips all over you, but it also makes you cold. I used to wear a big sweatshirt once I got out of the shower but recently I made one of my best purchases ever. A Turbie Twist is its name and it has been a lifesaver. You just wrap your hair in it once ou get out of the shower and it dries your hair for you and keeps it out of your way.

4. Hot drinks
Sipping on something hot will warm you up more than you might think. Be it tea, cocoa, or coffee, all will serve the purpose of warming you up.

5. Layers, Layers, Layers
Practice this in all areas. I sleep with three blankets on my bed (yes, three) and find myself wearing three to four layers a day. Utilize tank tops, cardigans, and vests.

6. Scarves
These are fashionable and warm. I prefer the big knit ones because they keep me warm during these cold months but an extra layer never hurts.

Hopefully a few of these tips will help you stay warm this season. If you happen to think of some, leave a comment below! We are in this cold weather season together!

Love,
Ashlyn
